Open Position: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (f/m/x) to join the Bergthaler Laboratory
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic candidate to join our team. The successful applicant should have an excellent background in molecular biology and experience working with laboratory animals.
The main duties include performing experiments in the area of immunology, virology and infection biology. Next to collaborations and the scientific support of other team members there may be the opportunity to pursue own projects. In addition, you will contribute to lab management and communication within the team. This position is perfectly suited for experienced technical assistants or scientists who are aiming for a long-term position in an international, academic environment.
+ MSc or PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. immunology, virology, molecular biology, genetics, pathology)
+ Excellent skill sets in performing and documenting experiments (e.g. molecular biology, cell culture, animal models)
+ Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
+ Excellent command of English
The principal investigator Dr. Bergthaler received training in in Switzerland, Japan and the USA. His team consists of 11 members representing 8 nationalities and different scientific backgrounds who closely collaborate across projects. The Bergthaler Laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms of viral infections and inflammatory diseases and is supported by competitive funding from the European Research Council (ERC), the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Examples of recent work include Schliehe C et al. Nature Immunology 2015, Bhattacharya A et al. Immunity 2015, Khamina K et al. PLoS Pathogens 2017, Kosack L et al. Cancer Cell 2019 and Baazim H et al. Nature Immunology 2019.
